The Freeride 38 W-Concave uses it's W for board awareness first and foremost. Our goal was to convey stance information via the W while leaving the forward most foot platforms to lock you in with a quasi-traditional flat-to-radial concave that is only very slightly effected by the deeper than average W-Concave that exists at the board center. We have found this more slight W-Concave at the footplatform (with a much steeper W in the center) provides a more comfortable alternative to the severe traditional WConcave options which we found unwieldy in anything but the most downhill specific applications.

We believe the Freeride 38 WC-oncave is second only to the Freeride 38 Rocker Concave in terms of comfort, while easily besting the Freeride 41RC in the lockin and board feel department. The steeper than average center W stiffens the center of the board dramatically compared to the Rocker Concave (which is already completely stiff). While this may sound like a good thing, the W removes the ability of the 9 Ply maple construction to flex at the center of the board in extreme impacts (car hits, freestyle stomp misses etc). The board is much less likely to survive either a car hit or a missed stomp. So for those seeking overtime freestyle durabilty we recommend either the Freeride 38 Rocker Concave or the Freeride 38 Rocker Concave.
